As a District 7090 sponsored award program since 1973, RYLA demonstrates Rotary's respect and concern for youth. It is one of Rotary International's Youth Services Programs.
RYLA is a program for young adults - professionals, entrepreneurs, college/university students, who demonstrate self-awareness, leadership qualities and concern for others. Candidates must be 19 to 25 (inclusive) years of age and able to attend the week-long program, staying on campus and free of any other commitments during its duration.
RYLA participants will equip themselves for success in their academic, career and personal lives by expanding their knowledge of their leadership potential and enhancing their skills in the areas of creative thinking, communication, problem solving, conflict resolution, interpersonal relationships and group dynamics. They will also gain a greater understanding of Rotary and experience firsthand the meaning of "Service Above Self".
The Rotary E-Club of SOWNY will choose it's candidate to meet the registration deadline of no later than May 1, 2015. The sponsoring club pays a participation fee, which covers instruction, accommodation, meals, entertainment and organizational expenses.
SLAPSHOT registrations are 80% full!
If you know of an outstanding young leader in your community between the ages of 15-18, please bring them up with your local Rotary Club or send a message to me for a chance for them to attend this year.
Last year we filled every spot before the end of February so act fast!
An agenda with objectives of each discussion will be emailed to all E-Club members in advance of the meetings.

Due to some technical challenges during our last online meeting, we have posted the following guidelines below to our website under the ABOUT E-CLUB tab. It is important that all members of E-Club read these guidelines carefully for future online participation. If we all take the time to assess our equipment and test our settings once we have logged into a meeting, it will ensure minimal disturbances. We will also take the time to do some basic training on the GoToTraining/Citrix tool at our next Club Assembly. Please direct any questions or concerns to email@example.com
The Rotary E-Club of SOWNY utilizes Citrix online tools; namely GoToTraining (GTT) and GoToMeeting (GTM). The GoToTraining tool is used for all Board Meetings, Club Assemblies and Regular Meetings when we host guest speakers and presentations.
We open our online meetings and stellar presentations to visiting Rotarians and guests outside of Rotary. If you would like to learn about our club, click on ALL ABOUT ROTARY and ALL ABOUT E-CLUB from our Home Page. Register for a presentation and meet us online! If you are interested in joining this E-Club, simply find our Membership Application online (Click on All About E-Club to download the application) and email your completed form to us. If you have questions, you can reach us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Our motto in Rotary is SERVICE ABOVE SELF. Members of our E-Club live or work or have some affiliation with our District 7090 encompassing Southern Ontario, Canada and Western New York, US, or are referred by a member of our club. We meet online on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Thursday evenings of each month at 7PM - 8PM. Plus we attend a traditional Rotary meeting once a month in our local area. It's fun, it's simple, it's cost effective and it takes up less time to belong to a Rotary E-Club. If this model is for you, we'd love to hear from you!
